To Cut or Not to Cut: Deciding on a Cake Cutting Ceremony

When planning your wedding, one decision to consider is whether to include a cake cutting ceremony. This traditional moment symbolizes your first act together as a married couple and provides a great photo opportunity. It can also serve as a natural transition from dinner to dancing, engaging your guests and keeping the celebration lively.

At the Black Diamond lodge, we have several refrigerators ready to receive your cake. There is one fridge in our breakfast room that our couples and guests will have access to during the entirety of their stay. We also have several refrigerators in the columbine room that can hold all your sweet treats. If you choose to opt out of cake and go with something less traditional such as ooey gooey brownies and ice cream, we have freezers that can accommodate all your freezing needs.

If you’re not fond of cake or prefer a more modern touch, cutting the cake might not fit your style. Wedding timelines can be tight, and adding a cake cutting might complicate things or feel like an unnecessary formality. Plus, with many couples choosing unique desserts like cupcakes or doughnuts, a traditional cake might not align with your theme.

Ultimately, the choice should reflect your preferences and wedding vision. If the cake cutting resonates with you and enhances your celebration, go for it. If not, there are plenty of other ways to make your day special. Focus on what feels right for you as a couple, and your wedding will be memorable, whether you cut the cake or not.
