How to Purchase Event Insurance

All clients of The Black Diamond Lodge are required to obtain a general liability special event insurance policy covering the event with limits of no less than $500,000 per occurrence, $1,000,000 aggregate. The Black Diamond Lodge is partnered with EWed Insurance as we have found them to be the most comprehensive and affordable option. The client must provide proof of insurance two weeks following booking. Failure to do so could result in the termination of your venue agreement, forfeiture of deposits and forfeiture of your event date.

What is event liability insurance?

Event liability insurance helps protect you if you or your guests are found responsible for property damage at your venue or an injury caused during your event. It does not cover cancellations (unless you specifically purchase cancellation insurance). Examples of times insurance has been used at our venue include: an intoxicated guest driving their car into the side of the building, a window in the dining room being broken, professional carpet cleaning after multiple vomit incidents, and fire started in the bathroom.

Why does The Black Diamond Lodge require event liability insurance?

Event liability insurance is required to protect you from paying out of pocket for damages caused or injuries occurred. Even the most well planned events sometimes have things go awry, so we want to make sure you are fully covered and protected!

The lodge personally carries event insurance, building insurance and liquor insurance. Your caterers will carry their own insurance as well. We encourage you to inquire with your other vendors as to what level of insurance they carry and what it covers to ensure that you and your guests are fully covered.

How much does event liability insurance typically cost?

Event liability insurance varies by date, location, guest count and multiple other variable factors. We’ve found that insurance for our venue for around 80-100 people typically costs around $250.
